Candy’s Story
Candy Mayor is a mother of two boys and the wife of a police officer, which made getting to this point in her career a challenging but growth-filled journey. She managed to balance being pregnant and having a newborn while pursuing her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Southeastern University. At times she was exhausted, for moments overwhelmed; but her drive, support system, and strong faith pushed her to succeed.
Growing up, Candy had a front row seat to the impact one person could have on another while watching her father, who was a pastor, provide counseling to his church members. She knew from a young age that she wanted to help people in the same way. Entering college, she decided to pursue a career in the medical field. By the time she graduated, she switched majors from pre-med to Psychology with a minor in religion; following what she knew was her passion.
After completing her Masters degree, Candy was blessed to begin practicing at a Christian Counseling Center, where she found support and a great opportunity to gain valuable experience. She is eternally grateful for everyone at Lifebuilders for their love and support. Venturing out on her own is intimidating and stress inducing at times; but so very exciting. Candy is ready to take the next step in her journey as a Therapist.
Candy is navigating this transition with the same spirit of enthusiasm and perseverance that brought her through her Masters program. Developing her own practice is challenging and riddled with bumps in the road. She continues to be encouraged by her family, faith, and a passion for helping others.
Candy has worked diligently to fulfill the requirements of obtaining her license as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Florida. The realization that she has completed the required hours was a strong catalyst for her deciding to begin her private practice.
During one of her vision sessions with her husband, when they discussed future plans for their family and goals they would like to obtain, Candy and her husband created and explored a huge vision of one day opening a counseling center where clients could be transformed and healed in every way. The vision was a dream, and this step is a huge leap in the direction of making that dream a reality.
Candy has always been led by God and prayerfully considered his plan for her while navigating the challenges of life. Candy credits her husband for his unwavering support and motivation. He believes in her whole heartedly, and has encouraged her to continue challenging herself and discovering her full potential. Candy’s mother and father have always been present and imperative to her success. Beyond instilling a work ethic and strong faith in her, they continue to be there to help in any way necessary. Candy is proud to be the daughter of such amazing parents.
Candy prays that as her story continues to unfold, she will be given opportunities to help people find themselves through difficulties large and small. She believes that her passion and purpose in life is to provide her clients with the environment and support they need to see the beauty, strength, individuality, and value that they possess. Her dream of one day expanding Arrow’s Way Therapy into a multi-service counseling center is as strong as ever.
